Okay guys, sorry if this is a dumb ass question but I'm fairly new to the turbo age. Does an aftermarket BOV have any benefitial use or are they just to make noise? Is the fastory Nissan one as good as aftermarket or is it restrictive like everything else from the factory?
Cheers

factory one should be fine for some mild mods. when upping the boost to over 14-16psi, the factory one will probably leak. it can be modded a little to help this. but they will only go so far.

and yes aftermarket ones make different sounds lol but they can also hold higher pressures, and some are made to vent into the atmosphere instead of back into the system

Spot on. Unless the stock BPV is leaking or not functioning properly [stuck valve], then it's time to replace.

Aftermarket ones are mainly for the bling factor and the sound.

I do admit I enjoy the sound and it does look nicer. But it'll be hybrid or full plumb back for me, as I dont like the backfiring\over rich condition.
