I'm going to be getting these this week to install next weekend.

The turbo I currently have is from GCG, their braided hose kit costs $380 yet the same kit (not identical but same parts) from Horsepower in a Box costs $260.

Both turbos have the same oil and water fittings, I was just wondering is it worthwhile spending the extra $120 for a kit that does the same thing?

if the kits are similar or near the same then it would be wise (well money wise) to choose the HP in a box since you'll be saving $120 and it will do the same job. have you checked with pirtek for braided hose pricing?

the only thing with Pirtek, is that i have to have the turbo off the car and them be able get fittings into the car/turbo. so that means an afterhours weekend house call for me :( WAY too expensive.

ive heard many bad reports about the HPIAB kits - lines way too long or not long enough generally.

My vote is pirtek, my braided lines cost me $133 inc new copper washers about a year ago.

You can measure up yourself and you know they'll fit. You're in for a fun job getting the fittings on and off with the turbo on the car though.

My vote is for NOT pirtek. I got some make up from them and the stupid things weren't flexible enough to go where i needed them to without kinking.

nah its all gotta come off. that damn manifold didnt line up correctly :( long story

anyway, i think ill just order the HP in a Box kit. the fittings are the same on both the stock and this turbo, so i dont see a huge difference. i think ill have to use the stock water fittings tho. but if i get to pirtek beforehand, ill get some good quailty barbs and use them with the kit instead of cutting the stock water lines again and using them.

I have used pirtek and HP lines, T_M_B is right about the pirtek made ones they can be wrong if you are not having them made to suit the car but as dave said you can get lucky and they fit perfectly.

Im using a pirtek oil feed (I have no water) and its okay.

For simplicity sake go the HP in a box kit.
The oil drain won't fit though unless they have pulled their fingure out an rectified that problem.

my last car had braided water lines made up from earl's product.
no complaints here. worked well and were not THAT expensive.

as has been said,as long as you measure them up correctly, you won't have issues.

the stock oil drain is working fine right now so i probably will leave it like that

i ordered the hp in a box kit of braided, the other cheaper kit was for teflon coated water lines. im going for braided for the extra $15, not because of the pressure, but if they touch something then i rekon the braiding will help with any heat transfer etc.

should be all good :)

ill still get some barbs, from memory the thread of the water line is an M10 1.25mm pitch. can anyone confirm this? if not im sure the service manual will have it

Yep they are,

Slight bending of the oil lines are needed but make sure they don't bend near the ends or you may find the pipes will crack.

Also the rear water line will need to be changed around a bit as well to fit.
