You will find one difference between the oz spec s14 and 15 turbos - A seperator between the wastegate flap and the exhaust wheel. Thats really the only difference.

Jap ones are a different story though. Both Jap S14 and 15 are BB

S15 turbo is newer and that's the only reason it's better.
Not sure if the seperator will do too much but every little bit to get rid of turbulance is good I guess.

as for BB and non BB... only way to tell are from the numbers on the turbos.
the Garrett part numbers.
Just because it is a JDM model, doesn't make a BB. this has been found before by people upgrading their JDM S15 turbo's and finding they are not BB.

here is what to look for..

466541 = ball bearing
466543 = bush bearing

for the second bit of the number

-001 = S14 turbo (no splitter between wastegate and turbine exit)
-002 = S15 turbo (splitter between wastegate and turbine exit)

JT - that's a pretty picture, but it doesn't tell us anything apart from part of a helpdesk website address.
hahahaha

that's definitely a S15 turbo as it has the splitter..
but what part numbers are on it..
I can't remember where the numbers are.. possibly on the core between the compressor and exhaust side of the snail.

Another key difference that I've seen in 3 out of 3 low km S15 turbos is radial hairline cracks in the turbine housing (under w/gate flap and down into housing entry) - never seen an S14 housing do this.

These cracks don't seem to hamper performance though as they are usually (well - hairline) thin.

Anyone else?

That's the important number.
I can't remember all the various other numbers off the top of my head (466543 is one of the non BB S15 ones I think)
