Hey Guys,

This guy is selling a Nissan T3 of a Cefiro (not sure of what year) and his telling me that is BB?

I thought they were the Ceramic type?

Did any Nissan T3's come out BB?

Thanks....

They weren't called a T3, but they are a T3 size turbo (T3 flange, etc)

The ECCS RB20DET turbos have a ball bearing core and a ceramic turbine.
The RB25 turbo is the same thing with a larger compressor and a slightly bigger turbine wheel on the later ones.

They're pretty nice turbos, but with the ease and low cost of picking up a T28 these days it's not really worth adapting one to an SR or CA.

I have an RB25 turbo with a dead turbine side oil seal that I could sell cheap :P
I also have an RB20 turbo with a slight chip in the turbine :)

I paid $200 for the RB20 turbo, and $350 for the RB25, but the RB25 had been rebuilt, and obviously not very well since it died pretty quickly.

Considering all the custom work required (manifold, dump, oil/coolant lines, intake/cooler piping) to fit an RB turbo to an SR I wouldn't bother. Get an S14 T28 for a cheap bolt on upgrade.

The RB25 turbo was excellent, but since I was doing the n/a turbo conversion I had to do heaps of custom stuff anyway and it wasn't a problem to modify a manifold and make a custom dump pipe.

would it be possible to replace the rb20 with larger wheels, form the 25 turbo or some steel wheels? i assume the inside wil have to be machined out?

you could, but it gets more expensive than just getting a better turbo.

A bigger, but lower tech option is the VG30DET turbo. I've seen those for sale from JMS and others for about $300 in non ball bearing and $400 in ball bearing form.

The best combo seems to be the VG30 turbo (same as RB20 but with larger turbine / housing) mated up with an RB25 compressor side.

Obviously that means the turbos need to come apart, have new seals, and be re balanced though so it's not cheap.

thats just nuts!i saw an rb25 turbo getting bigger wheels, and new seals. including the machining to fit the bigger wheel, and then balancing it all, i think the price was over a grand!

t28 would be a better go, ur right!
