If you're not worried about money, and want to put a boat anchor in your S13 I'd suggest getting an RB26DETT. It'll make more power than an RB20, and comes with two turbos already attached!

If money's no object, and you want mad twin turbo power then drop a 2JZ-GTE, preferably the US spec one.

Its a stronger bottom end than the RB and you can stick TRD stickers on the car and not be a complete loser.

true that, there was one of those out here in Dubvegas a while back....the thing used to scream. Got written off thou, some fella bought it off the bloke who built it and from the stories he flipped it end over end 4 times after hitting a pothole at around 240km/h

yeah, you wouldn't want a JDM 2J,they suck. the USDM one is so much better, like all things american...
the only difference between the two is that americans talk them up more. they have a lot of wierd ideas about what works and what doesn't over there. they still think the proper way to tune an engine is with a std ecu and add ons like SAFC's and ITC's....

back on topic now,why do you want twin turbos? do you think you can't make a suitable single setup? if it's just because it's different, and you want to do something different for difference's sake, then I'll say it right now, you're a wanker, and a masochistic one at that.

twin turbos on four cylinders do NOT work well. there aren't enough exhaust pulses to get them spinning properly, and even running twin babies is a compromise,as their tiny exhaust housings will choke your top end. plumbing twins is also a headfuck, and one that won't be worth the effort in the end.
twins on a six cylinder works, but it's not incredibly responsive either, unless you keep the turbos on the smaller side.

if you absolutely must have a six cylinder and twin turbos up front, the smartest option is to build a strong RB26DETT,and put that in. you'll piss away about $30k before you see any real results that will justify the expense, but hey,you say money is no object...

My understanding was that the ones the American JZA80's used had a stronger bottom end than the Jap spec ones.

But, I probably read it on the Internet or car mag so there's only a 50% chance its right.

I think the US 2J's have steel exhaust wheels as opposed to ceramic and maybe bigger injectors, but thats about it.

Fergo has hit this topic smack on the head.

You are claiming money is no object so why are you considering the cheapest of all nissan 6's???

If money truely is no object like he said burn 30K or so and build an RB26, but then why put it into an old S13 chassis might as well buy a proper GTR.
I seen somewhere you said you want 300rwKw, You will not get this unless you use a single on the large size, but my bet is you just have too much money and don't realise that a 300Kw street car is impractical.

Then agian money is no object so buy a ferrari to drive daily and you will be sweet.

twin turbos are a waste on 4cyls? Subaru managed to hit he magical 200kw mark with a twin turbo 4 cyl without too much trouble and make it nicely drivable with there B4's. Their early attemps had a nice VOD but the B4 didnt have too much trouble with it. Its got nothing on a single turbo setup, but its got sfa lag and goes like all hell. I wouldnt say that its a waste.

sifnt drop an EJ20TT into one 8)

You must be the only one that thinks the Liberty B4's twin turbo setup didn't have a big torque hole in the midrange when it switched from one turbo to the other.

Every magazine review and owner feedback I've read has complained about the power delivery in the B4.

And you'll notice that, on the Liberty GT, they've gone back to a single turbo setup. One that everyone raves about for its smooth power delivery and tractability and says is the biggest improvement on the hi-po Liberty.

Have you actually ever driven a B4??

scathing is right they do have a nice little flat spot which the single turbo GT models do not have.
How come the TT subby engine was never used in an STi? which is subarus figure head?

Also there is no twin turbo EJ20 aren't they EJ25's??

The B4 uses an EJ20.

And, for the record, I don't see anything magical about making 200kW from a turbo 2.0L engine. Allowing for a 25% drivetrain loss that's only 150rwkW, which is hardly a massive milestone (especially when you have the luxury of using a big turbo as you've got a small one to bolster up the bottom end).
