Hey Guys,

I have had my intercooler for a couple of months now, It has been making whistle noises ever since i bought it. I have heard that this is a problem, i thought it was just normal operation because of the air flowing through it or passing around it. It is a Hybrid Unit i bought as a kit including the piping etc.
It only does it criusing down the road with no or very little throttle applied.

Thanks People.

sounds like you got a leak somewhere.

get it tested by a mechanic. they will pressurise the system with some sort of coloured gas or smoke to see where the leak may be

probably easier than pulling the whole thing apart to tighten it all

The whore is right :) You need a proper smoke-test done. You could get this done at either Croydon Racing Developments or ProConcept.

if you feel like theres a problem with it, best to take it back and get a new one (if you brought it from an authorized hybrid dealer)

there is also a thread on ns.com about this topic where people have tested it themselves....

its not leaking
i fit about 2 off the intercoolers a week and not of them have eva come back with a whistle
i install the hybrid intercooler with my own custom piping

i installed a hybrid intercooler kit with its own piping and it came back with a whistle so i beleave it has some thing to do with the crapy piping
thats the main reason i dont use there piping

Also hed problems with hybrid kits whistling but its an easy fix.
Remove the pipes and run a file around the inside edges. Put a nice tapper on the inside edge and your noise will be gone. There is nothing wrong with the piping its just the square edge must cause the noise, im yet to see one that has not been fixed by this.

I had the whistle after painting and refitting my cooler pipes. Make sure your clamps are tight! I tightened mine up with new clamps, no more whistle.

Yeah sorry guys,
still here my broadband went out, standard for telsra i suppose.
Yeah i have checked my clamps and replaced the ones i thought were tightening on an angle. Still there, I might go and get that smoke test done later on. That's probably the best way to determine the cause.

Thanks for your help guys.
