well, have a think about it for a minute. where's the oil coming out of,the turbo,or the engine? the answer is fairly obvious.

the oil is in the turbo primarily to lubricate the bearings, not to cool it,that's what the coolant feed is for,if it has one.

the turbo bearings are fed pressurised oil from the engine's main gallery, which then drains back to the sump.

what you have from the sound of it is worn turbo oil control seals, which are letting this oil past them and into the compressor housing, and possibly also the exhaust housing. these can be replaced fairly cheaply by a turbo specialist shop like has already been suggested in this thread. the sooner you get this done, the better.

if you want a more responsive option than a 3040,you have a multitude of choices,it all depends on what power level you also want to be able to achieve with it.

with the right supporting gear,a GTRS will make full boost by 3800rpm,and a peak power figure of ~250kw atw.
an HKS 2530 will make around 230kw atw,and will get on boost several hundred rpm earlier.
S15 turbos can make 220kw atw on the ragged edge, and will be on boost faster again.
all depends on what you want really.

okay, I have asked gcg turbo. They told me it would cost $600. Is this about the right price or am I getting ripped sideways.

I reckon that's a fair price. a ballpark figure I was given today from someone who's used them several times before was $800.

as I said in another thread, you might want to change the bearings in it while it's apart as well...
